Different types of scans
During your pregnancy, you are offered a number of ultrasound scans that are covered by your insurance. Additionally, your midwife may request additional scans for medical reasons, which will also be covered by your insurance. However, elective or non-medical scans, such as a pre-scan, must be paid for out-of-pocket.
- Viability scan (7-8 weeks)
- Dating scan (10-12 weeks)
- ETSEO (first trimester scan) (13 weeks)
- TTSEO (second trimester scan) (20 weeks)
- Biometric/growth scan (30 and 34 weeks, or as indicated between 28-36 weeks)
At your own request (40 euros):
- Elective/pre-scan or gender reveal scan

Can’t resolve the issue with us?
If you need assistance filing a complaint, you can contact the CBKZ (Central Office for Healthcare Complaint Management). They offer independent and impartial support and mediation. All information shared is confidential. The CBKZ complaints officer is available by phone Monday to Friday (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM) via 088 - 0245123. You can also email klachtverloskunde@cbkz.nl.
If your complaint involves an echoscopist who is a member of the BEN (Dutch Association of Sonographers), you can also submit your complaint to the BEN complaints committee.
