What can you expect from Midwifery Practice Nieuw-West & Badhoevedorp?
Our practice in Amsterdam consists of five dedicated midwives, and we also have an ultrasound clinic on-site. Every pregnant person has ultrasounds at 8, 12, 19, and 34 weeks. Typically, you will come to us for 12-14 check-ups, starting with monthly visits, and increasing to weekly appointments as you approach the end of your pregnancy. As long as everything progresses smoothly (physiologically), you’ll remain under our care. If there are any concerns, we’ll refer you to the hospital for further monitoring by a gynaecologist. Together with each pregnant person and their partner, we make individual care plans that cater to the parents' preferences. During labour, as long as everything proceeds normally, we’ll support the birth at home or in the hospital. If there are any doubts, we’ll refer you to a gynaecologist.
Personal care for a smooth pregnancy
As healthcare providers, we aim to offer high-quality professional care, while allowing plenty of room for your individual preferences. Our role is to explain why we provide certain care, so even if things go differently than planned, it still feels like a shared journey. It’s important that you feel safe and supported throughout. We strive to create a personalised care path for each pregnant person. If you’ve experienced miscarriages in the past and are feeling uncertain, you’re always welcome to come in for an extra check-up to listen to the baby’s heartbeat. Discuss any concerns with us!
"The health of mother and baby is always our top priority."
